Common Questions
We know you might have questions about your visit, and we believe clarity is key to comfort. Whether you’re curious about insurance or what happens during an exam, our team is here to help you feel fully prepared for your appointment.
How often should I really be coming in for a cleaning?
For most patients, we recommend a visit every six months. This timeline allows us to catch small issues before they become big ones and remove plaque that brushing at home can’t reach. However, if you have gum health concerns, we might suggest a slightly more frequent schedule to keep your smile on track.
What counts as a dental emergency?
If you are in pain, it is an emergency to us. Common signs include a severe toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, or swelling in your jaw. Please do not tough it out. Call us immediately so we can get you out of pain and back to your life as quickly as possible.
On Root Canals (The "Fear" Question)
This is one of the biggest myths in dentistry! With modern technology and anesthetics, a root canal is often no more uncomfortable than getting a standard filling. Our goal is to get you out of pain, not cause it. We will make sure you are completely numb and comfortable before we start.
Do you use metal or white fillings?
We primarily use tooth-colored composite fillings. These modern materials bond directly to your tooth for strength and blend seamlessly with your natural enamel. You can laugh and smile with confidence knowing your fillings are virtually invisible.
How can a dentist help with my snoring?
Snoring is often caused by your airway becoming partially blocked while you sleep. We can provide a custom oral appliance that gently positions your jaw forward to keep your airway open. It is small, silent, and comfortable, making it a great alternative for patients who struggle with CPAP machines.
Will I be awake during my tooth extraction?
Your comfort is our top priority. We offer sedation options to help you relax during the procedure. Most patients feel only pressure, not pain. We will discuss all your sedation choices during your consultation so you can choose the level of relaxation that feels right for you.
Why does my jaw click when I chew?
Clicking or popping is a common sign of TMJ dysfunction, which often stems from teeth grinding or a misaligned bite. While it might not hurt now, it can lead to wear and headaches later. We can evaluate your jaw function and create a custom night guard or therapy plan to protect your joints.
Do you direct bill to my insurance company?
Yes, we are happy to direct bill most insurance plans for your convenience. We know dental benefits can be confusing, so our administrative team will handle the paperwork for you and help you understand exactly what your plan covers before treatment begins.
