For Dr. Perica Nonkovic, the best appointment is one where the patient forgets they are even at the dentist. With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Nonkovic has dedicated his career to helping anxious patients find relief through gentle care and advanced sedation techniques.

He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Manitoba and has since completed extensive training in IV Sedation and Dental Implantology. This unique skillset allows him to handle complex surgeries and restorative treatments right here in Cochrane, saving his patients the stress of a commute to the city.

Before settling here, Dr. Nonkovic built a reputation in Calgary and Grande Prairie for his reassuring chairside manner—often winning over patients who hadn’t seen a dentist in years due to fear. When he isn't restoring smiles, you can find him enjoying the outdoors and giving back to the community he’s proud to serve.

Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Ekta Cheba has always believed that great dentistry starts with a great relationship. After earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of British Columbia, she returned to Alberta with a clear mission: to create a dental home where patients feel heard, valued, and genuinely cared for.

Dr. Cheba is known for her gentle touch and her ability to make even the youngest patients feel brave in the dental chair. She is passionate about education—having even written "Ask the Dentist" columns for local communities—and takes the time to explain the "why" behind every treatment. Whether she is guiding a toddler through their first checkup or helping an adult achieve their dream smile, her focus is always on comfort and connection.

When she isn’t at the clinic, you’ll find Dr. Cheba exploring Alberta’s beautiful backyard, traveling with her husband, or spending quality time with family. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, and is honoured to serve the diverse and growing community of Cochrane.

Dr. Ashish Oommen is a General Dentist with 18 years of experience, and he’s thrilled to be welcoming new patients to Spray Lake Dental. After completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of Manitoba, Dr. Oommen has spent his career helping families feel confident, cared for, and truly at ease during their dental visits.

What matters most to Dr. Oommen is creating a comfortable, positive experience for every patient who walks through the door. He is a certified Invisalign provider and has additional training in Sleep Apnea and TMJ treatment, allowing him to offer personalized solutions for patients of all ages. He has a special passion for working with children and always goes the extra mile to make their appointments fun and stress-free. For those who feel anxious about dental care, he provides gentle sedation options to help make each visit as relaxing as possible.

Giving back to the community is close to Dr. Oommen’s heart. He has volunteered with Kindness in Action in Ecuador, Dentistry From The Heart in Northern Alberta, and The Alex Dental Health Bus, offering essential oral health care to children and youth in Calgary’s high-need communities.

Dr. Oommen is an active member of the Alberta Dental Association and College, the Canadian Dental Association, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find Dr. Oommen outdoors with his partner and their energetic German Shorthaired Pointer. He loves hiking, camping, and exploring the beautiful trails and campgrounds around Calgary, Banff, and beyond. And as a true foodie, he’s always on the lookout for new restaurants and hidden gems around the city.
